This accredited course will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively respond to an electrical emergency using a low voltage rescue kit and perform CPR on a casualty who has stopped breathing. Suitable for electricians needing a CPR/LVR certificate for work.

This includes calling for help, the ability to respond to CPR and basic rescue first aid situations, casualty assessment, decision making and basic life support functions including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), the performance of rescue procedures from live low voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables in the workplace. It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions.

It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

First Aid participants can be Aged 14 and above.

Standard Course (Face to Face)

This course is delivered entirely face-to-face in class. Up to 1 hour of pre-course online learning must be completed prior to attendance. Minimum duration is up to 2 hours.

Students are required to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the course commencement or will be refused entry.

Participants are required to attend 100% of this first aid training and successfully demonstrate competence in all assessment activities.

There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course. As this course covers HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, evidence of completion of HLTAID009 must be demonstrated in the learning management system before starting UETDRMP018 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel. Learners will require English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.

Participants will also be required to undertake practical training and assessments at floor level. This includes demonstrating CPR on a manikin for a period of two minutes. If you have poor mobility or a current injury please discuss this with us prior to booking.

Clothing: We suggest that you wear comfortable casual clothing, as the practical nature of the demonstrations and practice may possibly require bending, kneeling and lying on the floor. Pants and flat shoes are recommended.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements

Participants will require suitable LLN skills to complete the following tasks/skills:

  • Read information from a PowerPoint and whiteboard
  • Listen and understand verbal information delivered by an English-speaking trainer
  • Complete written incident report forms in English
  • Read and answer a multiple-choice question paper
  • Read and answer a short-written answer test
    Listen to instructions of an Automated External Defibrillator where prompts are delivered in English
  • Be able to count to 30
